Tuition Assistance Application

Frankford Friends School partners with School and Student Services (SSS) of NAIS to assist us in determining each family’s need for tuition assistance.

Each SSS application provides the school with a thorough analysis of a family’s financial resources, including income, assets and expenses. This helps the Financial Aid Committee to fairly and equitably distribute awards. All personal information is held in the strictest of confidence.

The application is completed entirely online at SSS

In order to make the process easier, families will use the preceding year’s completed Federal Income Tax Form 1040.  Once the new year’s forms come available, families must submit the current year’s W2 and 1099 forms. This is so we may substantiate that earnings have remained consistent with the preceding year’s income. All tuition assistance awarded is contingent upon the timely receipt of this information and is subject to change based on any new information.

Tuition assistance applications can be found at https://www.solutionsbysss.com/parents. Please use our school’s identification number 905184. There is a fee of $51 charged by SSS. These resources for completing the application process may be helpful and is recommended.

New and Prospective Students

We encourage all families to apply early for tuition assistance. Current families receive priority and new applications are prioritized in the order in which they are received. Almost a third of our students receive some form of tuition assistance; however, the demand for tuition assistance often exceeds the funds available.

Returning Students

Applications for tuition assistance must be renewed annually. The deadline for 2020-21 applications is December 20, 2019, at which point applications must be complete (including all tax forms, documents and schedules). Current school families receive priority in the tuition assistance process. However, those families must strictly adhere to the deadline or their application will be placed in the general pool.

In addition to tuition assistance, we offer several payment plans to accommodate and assist our families in budgeting and planning.

If at any point during the process you have questions or need assistance, please contact Bethann DiGiovanni in the Business Office at Frankford Friends School at 215-533-5368 ext. 124 or via email at business@frankfordfriends.org.

Tuition Assistance Guidelines

The following tenets guide the fair and equitable distribution of tuition assistance at FFS:

  • The submission of an application for tuition assistance does not guarantee an award, nor does demonstrated need guarantee an award.
  • A student must be accepted to Frankford Friends School in order to be considered for tuition assistance.
  • Applications for tuition assistance are completed and reviewed on an annual basis. Tuition assistance awards are for one year only. Receipt of an award does not guarantee receipt of additional awards in subsequent years.
  • All tuition assistance awards are based on family need, as determined by the Financial Aid Committee. As stated in the Community Handbook, current students must be in good standing academically, behaviorally and financially in order to be considered for or receive tuition assistance.
  • Every effort is made to maintain the percentage of tuition assistance received per returning student (as need dictates).
  • No award will exceed 50% of a student’s annual tuition.
  • Divorced, separated or never-married parents are individually required to complete the PFS (Personal FInancial Statement) application and/or provide documentation of custodial agreements (in the case of divorced, separated or never-married parents - applications for tuition assistance received from only one parent are incomplete and will not be considered).
  • FFS will impute an annual salary equal to one year’s tuition for any non-working parents with no children under kindergarten age at home.
  • Self-employed parents or guardians are required to furnish a copy of their current business tax returns.
