"Life Doesn't Frighten Me"

After listening to Maya Angelou's poem, "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" and discussing Jean-Michel Basquiat's paintings and how it relates to Angelou's work, students were encouraged to think about something that doesn't frighten them and then create a work inspired by the work of Basquiat.

Reading Buddies

For World Book Day, the 1/2 pod paired up with a book buddy and spent time in The Nest reading books with each other. There was lots of laughter, silly book character voices, and second graders helping the younger students with reading.

Garbology: The Scoop on Our Stuff

Eighth graders analyzed the life cycle of a product by looking deeply at the design, the extraction of raw materials, manufacturing, distribution and packaging, product use, and its end-of-life.
