Designing a Space for Collaboration and Hands-On Learning for the FFS Community

Teacher Montse and the Middle School Spanish Program

From the get-go at FFS, students begin to realize that “learning Spanish” is more than just learning how to speak a different language; it is a doorway into understanding that there is a great big world beyond their experienced communities, and that learning about different cultures enriches our lives.

Research & Design

Two impressive research and design projects recently wrapped up in 4th and 8th. Fourth graders masterfully built a scale-model 3D map of the surrounding Frankford neighborhood. In Eighth Grade, students finished their amazing Indigenous Peoples projects in which they researched, compiled, and designed Google Slides presentations and posters to display their findings.

Community Days for Impact

Today, in our corner of Philadelphia, our lower school students joined state and local politicians at the Garced Center to deliver canned goods to @frankfordcdc for their Thanksgiving Food Drive. Middle school students boarded a bus for a field trip to Lardner’s Point with @riverfrontnorth where they learned how to protect our watershed. And this afternoon, families and neighbors gathered on our campus to receive flu shots, pediatric COVID-19 vaccines, and COVID-19 booster shots.

Grandfriends Day

Happy Grandfriends Day! The coming together of the older and younger generations brings immense and meaningful learning to us all. Thank you to all of the grandfriends who joined us today, and to those who were not able to do so. We look forward to hosting everyone on campus soon. We love you!
