Dan Dailey ‘58: A Glass Art Visionary Shines at the Currier Museum

The Currier Museum of Art in New Hampshire recently put the spotlight on Dan Dailey ‘58 with Dan Dailey: Impressions of the Human Spirit. This incredible retrospective celebrated Dailey’s bold, imaginative approach to glass sculpture—showcasing why he’s considered a true pioneer in the field.

Dan’s journey in art took him from Frankford Friends School to the Philadelphia College of Art (BFA) and the Rhode Island School of Design (MFA). He went on to shape the next generation of artists as Professor Emeritus at the Massachusetts College of Art where he founded the school’s Glass Department, helping to redefine what’s possible in glass art. He’s also shared his expertise at MIT, RISD, Pilchuck Glass School, and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, inspiring artists across the U.S., Europe, and Japan.
Dan’s work has earned him solo exhibitions—including a major retrospective at the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery—and a place in over 50 museum and public collections. You can view his work in the illustrated book on display at FFS, DAN DAILEY: Impressions of the Human Spirit, or on Instagram: @dandaileyart.
